Pte. Robert Hodge, son of Mr Wm. Hodge, 65 High St., died of wounds. This is the second son Mr Hodge has lost in the war, while other two are still serving.

(The other son was John S. Hodge, Hampshire Regt. KIA 01.07.1916 son of William & Mary S. according to CWGC?)

1901 census has William & Catherine + family in Perth.

I found this in CWGC

Parents are correct, address matches + he is buried in Perth. BUT he is P. Hodge, R.F.A., and the death date compared to the newspaper article is way out.

Could this involve two different families?

Royal Army Tank Corps cannot be correct, there was no Royal link before 1923. At that date it would be MGC ( Heavy Section ) or The Tank Corps.

There was no Robert Hodge died in Scotland or overseas in 1917.

The RFA man is Peter Hodge, formerly in the RAMC

Thanks for that - here we go again ! I'll have another look but this 'Golden Book' for Perth just gets more and more confusing it appears.
