I hope this is in the right place, otherwise I am sure a moderator will move it to somewhere more appropriate.
I have found a few memorials that are not listed on UKNIWM (http://www.ukniwm.org.uk/)
I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread where we can list all of these memorials we have found. All of the ones in this post are in Dumfries and Galloway and I will amend the post with any more that I find. I suggest anyone adds replies to this thread with any they find from elsewhere in Scotland. Perhaps someone at UKNIWM can use this in the future to fill in the blanks in their records?

My starters are:

Capt James Edward Tait VC, Troqueer Church, Dumfries and Galloway

MAJOR-GENERAL SIR VICTOR MORVEN FORTUNE K.B.E. C.B. D.S.O at Auchencairn in Dumfries and Galloway - this is actually a separate memorial but is just shown as a note on the main memorial in Auchencairn church in UKNIWM

Durisdeer civic memorial, Dumfries and Galloway (spelt Durrisdeer on memorial)

Durisdeer village civic memorial (not the same as above)

Laurieknowe Church, Dumfries - Roll of Honour - this memorial is in Troqueer church and shows all those who served, noting those who made the final sacrifice - note that there is also another memorial showing only those who died, ref 44294

Further errors and omissions on UKNIWM:

Bankend in Dumfries and Galloway, not listed GR NY 019 694

entry for 'Corsock and Kirkpatrick Durham' (Ref 5880 is incorrect. The memorial in question is for Corsock only - there is a separate one for Kirkpatrick Durham which needs to be added, GR 787703

There is a war memorial at Herd's Lodge just south of Whithorn (NX 425 383) at least it is marked on my OS map. I have not been able to identify this on UKNIWM

Entry for Keir (Dumfries and Galloway) is missing, this is NOT the same as the church memorial already listed. GR NX 858 932

memorial at Mennock, Dumfries and Galloway needs to be added. Not listed on UKNIWM. Photos already posted in the forum.

Morton memorial is not listed on UKNIWM. Location is in Thornhill, Dumfries and Galloway at NX 879 955.

The memorial at Ringford (Ref 5869), Dumfries and Galloway is actually dedicated to the men of Tongland. The discription is on an artificial mound - the mound is certainly natural. The location is incorrect - it should be NX 688 577

Irongray church, Dumfries and Galloway is missing, GR NX 915 796

Lochrutton church is missing, GR NX 913 736

Memorial ref 44357 (at Buittle) is shown incorrectly as Younger, it is actually a memorial to Capt W Maxwell.

All the memorials in Grayfriars church Dumfries at GR NX 971 763 are missing and these are:

3rd Battalion KOSB - BOER War

2nd Battalion KOSB - Egypt

Capt Hannay, 3rd Bn KOSB

Sgt Kirkpatrick, 4th Bn KOSB

Great War parish memorial - 43 names

(END OF GRAYFRIARS LIST)

unlisted - Applegarth (Applegarth and Sibbaldbie) OS Map Ref: NY 104 834

unlisted - Jane Haining new memorial, beside Dunscore church - OS Map Ref: NX 866 843

incorrect title and location - UKNIWM 44254 title is Crichton Royal Hospital Staff and location is The Crichton Chapel

incorrect location - UKNIWM 44255 should be The Crichton Chapel

unlisted - Gatehouse of Fleet OS Map Ref: NX 603 566

incorrect location - Rothwell Church (13441 and 13442) should be NY 101 683

unlisted - Dumfries St Michaels Roll of Honour (not the same as 44306), OS Map Ref: NX 975 756

incorrect description - UKNIWM 44305 is named Townend Church, this is incorrect, it should read Townhead Church.

incorrect entry needs to be deleted - 44304 and 44307 are one and the same memorial to Gasstown Church parishioners. 44304 should be deleted and 44307 should be amended to have the correct dedication and description. The location is in St Michaels Church

unlisted - Dumfries St Michaels, McGeorge memorial OS Map Ref: NX 975 756

incorrect name for 44231 - UKNIWM has it as G Gordon, should be George Gordon Moir

I had been maintaining this list but it occurred to me that the only one likely to refer to is was myself Embarassed
Therefore I will not update it further, I had thought of deleting the post but it may be of historical interest or generally of the type of errors and omissions that can exist.
I have submitted a number of the corrections to UKNIWM by email (Memorials@IWM.ORG.UK) and one new memorial. All have been acknowledged as well as photos I have sent. I would encourage anyone who has additions or alterations for them to contact them at the mail address above (ask for a form if it is an unlisted memorial).
Meanwhile if anyone wants up to date status on any of 'my' missing memorials, just let me know.

The Borders have a high number of unlisted memorials as well.
Currently I'm marking them on the "Sticky" list as "not listed" and when most memorials gave been done I will contact the UKNIWM then. I'd rather do it as a block than piece-meal.

I have actually seen more errors than omissions recently, e.g.;

individual memorial listed under wrong name
wrong map reference
memorial listed as WW1 when it was WW2
same memorial listed twice
