Thanks to the WW2 Museums website and Google Maps Street View we can now see what Brodick War Memorial looks like and where it is located.

I can see why it was easy to miss, the shrubbery round it should get a bit of a prune.

The WW2 musuems site is here:

Gogle Maps Street View location is here:

Derek

If you follow the link to Google maps you can zoom out to get a location in the town.

By my reckoning it must be around NS 013 360 on the OS map.

Thanks

Adam

When you have the memorial in google street view, look at the URL at top of page, scroll along to right and find 'c&cbll=55.577389,-5.153857' this is the Lat and Long. Go to http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong-gridref.html and put the figures into WGS84 Lat and Long fields - you can use decimal degrees, no need to convert to minutes and seconds of arc. Click in OS Grid and there you have it. Remove the 4th and 8th digits and you can post it in to www.multimap.co.uk to check (change to OS map ref if you want).

In the words of a certain meerkat - simples!

In this instance it is NS 012 360.

drat - beat me to it, my fault for going for the complex solution that doesn't need you to compare maps by eye.

Paul

That made my day. That's a great way of getting an exact OS Ref.

Cheers

Easy to miss due to surrounding foliage. On main road going out of Brodick towards Brodick Castle. Opposite playing fields, Ormidale Park.
