Yes, it's an unusual name Clochcan and easy to mistake for Clochan. I've started a thread on the former school here:

http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=5411

Thanks

The following memorials have a thread on this forum but need more photographs

DRUMOAK - On main street
GLENBERVIE - In churchyard
NEW LEEDS - Manse Street
SAVOCH - In churchyard
TYRIE - In churchyard

The following are in churches (or believed to be in churches) and still need to be recorded

ARDALLIE (location Parish Church) - UKNIWM Ref No. 8633
BIRSE & FEUGHSIDE - In church
COULL - PARISH CHURCH ?
GLENBUCHAT - ROH WITHIN PARISH CHURCH?

These two may be civic memorials, but there may also be another civic memorial for the same area.

KINCARDINE O'NEILL WM HOSPITAL _ UKNIWM Ref No. 8635. See also Kincardine O’Neil - Actually it is Torphins
LAURENCEKIRK MEMORIAL PARK - UKNIWM Ref No. 8687 DOUBLE ENTRY OR DIFFERENT? See Laurencekirk

These two are listed on UKNIWM and will need to be investigated

Auchenblae - UKNIWM Ref No. 8676 - Summit of Gilbert's Hill [Now on Forum as Fourdon]
Kinneff – “ROADSIDE OF KINNEFF (HALL)” - UKNIWM Ref No. 8678 - civic memorial possibly a cross beside church

These are communities that may or may not have memorials and will need further investigation. They may be covered by other areas

Crathie - may be Blamoral Estate memorial? [Now moved to civic]
Newtonhill
Keithhall & Kinkell
Kildrummy
Potterton
Rothienorman
Sandhaven

We have a lot of civic memorials from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire but we have have very few church memorials in this section.

Regards

Adam

The Parish of Crathie is linked to nearby Braemar. The Balmoral Estate workers is for just that, it is not a parish memorial. Leochel Cushnie is already photographed in detail.

Thanks, I've removed Leochel Cushnie. The title still had "photos required" on it.

For Balmoral Crathie I think the text we've got on the thread http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=1938 suggests it is now a community memorial:

"THE BALMORAL WAR MEMORIAL
HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V UNVEILED THIS MEMORIAL ON
3RD SEPTEMBER 1922 AND DEDICATED IT IN MEMORY OF THE
MEN FROM THE ESTATES IN THE AREA WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
IN THE GREAT WAR.
THE NAMES OF THE MEN OF THE CRATHIE PARISH WHO WERE
KILLED IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR WERE ADDED TO THE BASE
"

Thanks

Adam

As you can see there is a Great War Memorial in Coull Kirk, located behind the pulpit. Access would require to be gained for a better pic and to establish if there are any others within;

Here is an article regarding Whitehills War Memorials. Not sure if we have these or another required for our lists. Appears civic ones;

Mark

Will check Whitehills next time I am down by the coast. There is another memorial in Whitehills to the Parish of Boyndie, which includes Whitehills.

Jim,

I don't know the background to these new memorials at Whitehills but they are in the Whitehills Cemetery.

I think the new memorials in Whitehills replaced plaques that were in Boyndie Kirk and suffered damage.

That would tie. I am aware of issues at St. Brandon's kirk at Boyndie, recently resolved by a CPO and now owned by Aberdeenshire Council. The building is derelict.

There are war memorials in St Andrew's Church, Inverurie according to their website:

http://www.standrewschurchinverurie.org.uk/ourhistory.htm

In 2011 St Andrew's completed an extensive renovation of the church and replacement of the two-manual Peter Conacher Organ with a three-manual Physis organ. There is now an extended vestibule area and a Church Office. As part of the Renovation a new Chapel/Meeting-Space dedicated to St Apollinarus was created to house The War Memorials and other artefacts. This Chapel of St Apollinarus is open on a daily basis for private prayer and meditation.
