If you like using Google Maps Street View like me then you'll be glad to hear that they've covered a huge number of A and B roads in Scotland and streets in small town too. Smile

I got really excited about finally being able to get an image of Dunoon's war memorial. However for some obscure reason known only to Google there seems to be a stretch or road near the Pier in Dunoon where there is no coverage Shocked . The very stretch of road where the memorial sits!

We're fated to never have an image of Dunoon here. Crying or Very sad

Thanks

Adam

Haud yer horses one and all - I've got photos!!

I've got photos of 2 different memorials .......

One is the 'Celtic-Cross' type and (I think sits next to a church) is to the men of Kilmun, Strone, Blairmore & Benmore and is only WW1, the other is a turret (of sorts) and bears ther names from WW1 & WW2.

I've had these photos for ages and completely forgot all about them! Embarassed

If anyone had any details of either - could you send me them please?

Anne

Seems the photos I've got aren't THE Dunoon Memorial (I've been googling it), so I don't now know what memorials I've got!!

Anne

Hooray Very Happy I couldn't figure out how we'd memorials near Dunoon but not Dunoon itself.

You can check out what the civic memorial looks like here:

Seems to be a right mix of styles.

Cheers

I'm a numpty!

The Celtic Cross is Kilmun and I've already added photos to the thread.

The other one is Lazaretto Point and has been already been posted by Jamie (as Sandbank).

Och well, it'll hopefully be a nice weelend for anyone going 'doon the water'.

Blurring gone mad in Google Street view here...

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=killin&sll=56.421972,-5.483551&sspn=0.04766,0.15398&g=oban&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Killin,+Perthshire,+United+Kingdom&ll=56.46073,-4.32327&spn=0,359.990376&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=56.460654,-4.323488&panoid=U_fBUmvgEZ2QIh705KTjfg&cbp=12,30.34,,1,-3.24

I won't give it away other than let you know it is war memorial related. you can see for yourself.

I've let the Google Maps folk know that this one is a blur too far and hopefully they'll fix it.

Cheers
