I'm trying and failing to track down one of my boys.
I have a news article that states:

"Pte R.Fleming, 1st Cameronians reported missing and subsequently reported killed, youngest son of the late Mr W Fleming, Tillicoultry (formerly Hawick)".

He is not commemorated on the Tillicoultry War Memorial but is featured on the Hawick Roll of honour.

However, I cannot find him him from the very scant details I have on the CWGC.

Does anyone know of a Fleming listed anywhere in the Tillicoultry area that could be my man?

There are only 2 R Flemings in Cameronians on CWGC and the other died in 1916 and had links to Larbert.

His place of birth is given as Glasgow on SNWM and the MICs on Ancestry are currently offline.

This last chap is listed as born and enlisting in Glasgow on the SDGW CD-Rom. No mention of Hawick or Tillicoultry but they don't have his place of residence listed.

UPDATE:

This Robert appears to be the man I'm interested in:

Robert Fleming was born at 8:45am on the 14 November 1892 at 12 Earl Street Hawick to William Fleming a Wool Handloom Weaver and Helen Douglas a Wool Power Loom Weaver who were married on 3 September 1875 at Roadhead in the Parish of Wilton. They were married by the Rev Robert Fordyce, Minister of West Port Free Church, Hawick and the marriage was witnessed by Robert Dawson and Mary Reid. Robert had three siblings ie Thomas Lindsay Fleming born 6 September 1887 at 7:45pm at Trinity Street, Euphemia Chisholm Fleming born 9 September 1876 at 10:45am at Roadhead in Parish of Wilton. The other brother was William Fleming born 23 October 1874 at 4:30am at Roadhead in Parish of Wilton. He was registered illegitimate but his father was included in the birth certificate and is shown to be living at 4 Orrock Place in Hawick,

Robert's father William Fleming was born on 2 November 1853 in Tillicoultry to Thomas Fleming and Jane Chalmers who were married on 8th September 1849 in Tillicoultry and his Mother Helen Douglas was born 14 May 1856 to Walter Douglas and Euphemia Chisholm who were married on 17 December 1854 in Hawick.

As noted, there are only 2 "R. Flemings" who died with the Scottish Rifles and the first is:

Note that the Euphemia is listed as Robert's sister twice - so there is a good link - not 100% but a nice probabliity.
Also the age of death of 24 in 1916 gives a year of birth @1892 - which matches the details given for Robert.

Now to find if Mrs. Euphemia Neil, of McLachlan St., Larbert, Stirlingshire has a marriage certificate showing that she was formerly a Fleming - fingers crossed.

A Euphemia C Fleming married a John Neil at Tillicoultry in 1898.

Euphemia Neil, 24, b Wilton Roxburgh. residing at 9 Lorne Buildings, Larbert in 1901. Husband John, same age, born Larbert.

Euphemia Fleming was indeed married to John Neil so we've found Robert.
