For the past two years I have been carrying out research on the 1WW Leith Roll of Honour. In addition to the 2206 names inscribed in it I have found another 371 names of 'Leithers' who died in the conflict. In addition to the CWGC records I have amassed some 1000 images of those who died, injured, missing or POWs as well as lots of other materials. The portfolio of research is now in 2 local libraries, Scottish Genealogy Society, Imperial War Museum, Queens College Cambridge Scottish National Archives as well as with selected individuals. Anyone interested can contact me. |

Info from a friend of mine Capt Ronnie Leask MBE saying that LEITH LIBRARY staff have 4 DVD's , TWO lising in alphabetical order entries of casualties with photos from the Leith Observer . The other two DVDs are said to have supplemantary info and these were produced in Jan 2010 by Andrew Grant who resides in Edinburgh
This may be of interest to Adam and others too

Pat
Many thanks for that. Leith Library isn't my local library but it is near enough for a visit.
Andrew Grant is aka 'Leither' who posted the original message.
Kind regards

I am the said Andrew Grant.
My research is based on the 2206 entries in the five volumes which make up the Leith Roll of Honour which was published in 1919. These are held by Lothian Health Services Archives (for the present) and can be viewed by contacting them. In addition to the number in the RoH I have 'found' another 371 "Leithers" who are not mentined in the RoH. Details of these are also in Leith Library. Later this year a hard copy of all my materials will be lodged in Leith Library for reference purposes. Meanwhile the materials are on CD in Leith Library, Edinburgh Room - Central Library, Scottish Genealogy Society and the Scottish Records Office. Copies have also been lodged with The Imperial War Museum, Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Queens College Cambridge.
Anyone who requires further info and details of the contents of the portfolio I have created can contact me. |

I should also have mentioned that if anyone would like a copy of all my research then I am willing to do this if you send a 4gb memory stick and £30.00 to me. Contact me by email on :- aandmat72ew@blueyonder.co.uk
A proportion of all 'sales' goes to the CWGC. |
