2nd LIEUT. J. A. MARTIN, HLI
James Adam Martin, Second Lieutenant: 6th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. Age 34.
Born 1881 at Urr. Son of John and Elizabeth (Rogerson) Martin of The Fell, Crocketford.
A partner in a firm of solicitors in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, he enlisted September 1914 as a Private in 9th HLI, commissioned April 1915 in 6th HLI. Left Egypt for Gallipoli 28 June. Missing in action 12 July 1915, remembered on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey and on the Airdrie War Memorial.
