In Perth 'Golden Book'
COLEMAN; THOS. H. PTE. 1/5TH H.L.I.
I could not 'see' Thomas Coleman on my initial look in the primary sources. However have just found this article which I've transcribed:
THE PEOPLE'S JOURNAL: 28.09.1918
PERTH CASUALTIES
Pte. Thomas Hamilton Coleman, H.L.I., son of Pte. Thos. Coleman, 200 High Street, has died of wounds. He enlisted when hardly 17 years of age in the A.S.C., and was discharged as being too young. He afterwards enlisted in the Black Watch, and after ten months service received his discharge. He next joined the H.L.I., and had seen considerable service, having been wounded four times. He was 21 years of age, and before enlistment was employed on the railway. His brother, Sec. Lt. James Coleman, is in an English regiment.
I'm heading out to work so can't dig too much further but I still find no trace. It may be he died at home. Or is this another 'alias' job?
I have quickly noted the following entries from the pension reocrds on Ancestry;
Thomas Coleman, Black Watch, No. 4642 - bn. 1895 Perth
Thomas Coleman No. 2500, Black Watch, (200 High St., Perth) |

Mark
I can see no sign of someone of that name dying in Scotland, England, Wales or Overseas in 1918. There is no sign of an MIC for him either. Very odd. _________________ Jim

I've checked the Scottish railway memorials but can't see him listed on any.
The C's aren't clear on the Caledonian Railway and Glasgow & South Western Railway plaques so hopefully David can check and see if he's listed on either of them.
Regards
