Kevin - I can't answer your question on the photo but there's a Sgt. William O'Donnell, R.A. listed on CWGC - son of William & Mary O'Donnell. husband of Margaret Dunlop O'Donnell of Greenock?

http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=173296

His entry on SNWM gives place of birth as West Lothian - so I'm guessing that this is him.

Surname O'DONNELL
Firstname William
Service number 3052322
Date of death 13/08/1945
Place of birth West Lothian
SNWM roll ROYAL ARTILLERY
Rank Sgt
Theatre of death Far East

What do the moderators think on this one. I have never heard of a O'NONNELL but we have all heard of O'Donnell. The list was sent to Malcolm from the council. Do I go with O'Donnell or leave it as O'Nonnell until someone can get to the memorial to check

You can see the name William O'Donnell in the picture of the 1939-45 memorial above. He is fifth from the bottom of the third column there.

I guess it is a typo in the list Malcolm was given.
