The Logie Pert Church near Montrose was a church of Scotland church premises and the building had a War Memorial to remember its congregtion members who were casualties of its 1914- 1919 war .
The Memorial has the words " + PRO PAGTRIA + " and then in the centre area of the memorial it has
1914 - + 1919
TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS CHURCH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR .
George CLARK --------------------- William MELVILLE
David GUTHRIE ---------------------- George MOWAT
David KIDD ----------------------- William STEWART
Edward STRACHAN
" FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH "
This stone war memorial was located in the Logie Pert church at Logie Pert and in the recent years the church was closed for use and it was converted into a Dwellinghouse . During the conversion from church to Dwellinghouse it seems that the Church War Memorial was removed and either put in the skip or about to be put in the skip with the "Rest of the Rubbish " and a female spotted it and seized it taking it to the Montrose Air Museum as a temp home . The reason for this War Memorial to be put out was that all the names of the men were on the Logie Pert war memorial so this one from the church was superfluous .............
This is not so as there are 2 names are listed on this war memorial that are not listed on the Logie Pert war memorial :
George MOWAT & Edward STRACHAN
All war memorials should be preserved so good that the lady seized the memorial and good that the Montrose Air Museum have taken it into their care
