The sculptor was Scott Sutherland who had served in the army and was also head of Sculpture at Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone's Colleg of Art.
It was unveiled by the Queen Mother as Honorary Colonel in Chief of the Black Watch. The memorial is to all ranks of the 4/5th (Dundee’s Own) Battalion Black Watch who fell in WWII and was erected through funds raised by public subscription.

Unfortunately it looks like we've lost the photos of this memorial so we'll need some more.

Thanks John Burnett for adding my pics to the site after the previous ones disappeared in the system.

These pics are a section of ones I have in my archive of several years ago .

The Memorial was instigated by Brigadier James A. Oliver (Arbroath ) and Lt Col Chick Thomson ( Dundee ) but now sadly deceased . Both had come through the ranks of the TA in WW2 .
