James RH Faed's father was the artist James Faed Jr as has already been stated. He donated a very large painting to New Galloway and it now stands (behind closed shutters) in the New Galloway Town Hall. I was fortunate enough to persuade the keyholder to open it for me to photograph. I am not good at estimating sizes, but my best estimate is 6 feet wide by 8 feet high. It is much more impressive in the flesh.

The story of Ronnie Faed and another young midshipmen was given coverage today on the BBC website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31712158 and also on today's BBC Reporting Scotland.

He's also named on Peebles War Memorial and I will post his details there when I eventually get to the letter "F". But an account of his death is given in the Book of Remembrance for Tweedsdale: https://digital.nls.uk/rolls-of-honour/archive/101000519
