To the memory of ALEXANDER DUNLOP ANDERSON
Major in the 23rd (Pioneer) Regiment of the Bengal Army
(Son of Alexander Dunlop Anderson M.D.)
Who fell gallantly fighting at the head
of his men in the action at
Peiwar Kotal, Afghanistan on the
2nd December 1878 aged 37 years.

"Faithful unto Death"

This tablet is erected by his brother officers of the 23rd Pioneers.
