I received an email the other day in which it was stated that Annan Museum will be holding an exhibition on the town's War Memorial from 7th October to 14th November. An associated booklet is currently in press.

I went to this exhibition yesterday and it greatly exceeded my expectations. Apart from the expected display of photos and letters and memorabilia from some of the soldiers commemorated, there is also an excellent display explaining the design and significance of memorials showing a large number of good colour images of many of the civic memorials of Dumfries and Galloway. There is also a 50 page booklet published by Annan Museum on the War Memorial (price £2.50) with some info on the memorial and a little of each of the soldiers.
The booklet acknowledges entries in the Scottish War Graves project and the reference material at the exhibition acknowledges the Scottish War Memorials Project. The curator has pointed several people in our direction and thanks the projects for the use she made of them during the research.
The exhibition runs until 14th November and I thoroughly recommend making the effort to get there if you can.

Paul,
If you manage to go back can you pick me up a copy of the booklet?
Thanks,

I doubt I will be going back, it is about an hour from here. You could try phoning them on 01461 201384. The museum opening times are 10 to 4.
