A friend of mine , Fraser Mitchell has brought it to my attention that the ABERLOUR ORPHANAGE War Memorial is located in the town of Aberlour and lists the War Dead for the Old Boys of Aberlour Orphanage in the 1914 -1918 and the 1939 - 1945 War . The Orphanage closed a number of years ago and was run by the Scottish Episcopal Church .
The front of the war memorial records " To the Glory of God and the Honour of The Old Boys of Aberlour Orphanage who fell in the Great War 1914 -1918 : Requiescant in Pace "
The casualties for the Great War are listed on the memorial in alphabetical order with no ranks or awards and above the wording at the front of the Memorial are the 17 casualties listed for the 1939 -1945 ending with the wording "These Aberlour Old Boys Died for their Country.

Aberlour is considered part of Banffshire but that former county was split in 1975 between two Districts when Grampian Region was formed. Aberlour (and Buckie, Cullen, Dufftown, Findochty, Keith and Portknockie) become part of Moray District.
In 1996 Grampian Region was broken up and Aberlour is now part of Moray Council so I have moved it to the Moray section part of the forum.
Thanks

Great find. Could you tell us whereabouts it is in Aberlour? Just in case I travel that far and get a chance to see it.

It's at the location where the former Aberlour Orphanage was in Aberlour I am led to believe . I will check further with Fraser Mitchell .
