I have to ask. Sorry if it's a really stupid question.
Why, if he died having achieved the rank of Colonel, does his memorial tell us he's a Major? |

Perhaps they thought that to be a major in the Seaforth Highlanders was a higher achievement that to be a colonel in the Egyptian Army.
Just a thought.

As detailed on it, the memorial was erected by his brother officers of the Seaforth Highlanders and is in memory of him serving with them as Major GW Anderson, 1st Seaforth Highlanders. _________________ Jim
