This man is on the SNWM but not on the CWGC. He may be there, sometimes it just takes someone else to try it to find him.

SDGW confirms the name and date of death.
His MIC exists which shows award of a pair.

However the CWGC won't play ball with any search I try.
It's times like this that I wish Geoff's search engine was up and running.

I downloaded his death entry at Scotlandspeople - shows his ages as 30, killed in action. Location given as F&F.

Of the fifteen men listed on the page, only three died on a date other than the 24th August 1918. One died on the 23rd.

Robert Inverarity's number is very hard to make out. To the untrained eye it looks like 17167. It's very blurred so that is in all likelihood completely wrong and it is indeed 37168.

If this is a possible non-comm, I cna be contacted for the death entry I have downloaded which can be submitted to the CWGC. Unless we find him in their database.

I've tried various searches and nothing comes up. I suspect he is a non-com.

These are all the HLI men who died on 24/08/1918 in the SNWM database. Most are 5th Bn. Can we check the 12 other 6th Bn men in this list on the death entry sheet to make sure they are all recorded by CWGC

AAAARRRGGHH. I thought I'd tried every combination. I never thought of missing the second letter out Rolling Eyes

At least he's there. Many, many thanks Anne.

I'll let CWGC know and ask them to check the original register.

Cheers

Adam

This man is IVERARITY in the original register. CWGC would likely need the service file and Extract of the Death Certificate to change their record. Am checking on this.

Is this sort of thread being moved to a seperate section now that he is not truely a " non comm " ?

David

Can you send me a hi-res scan of the Certificate to me directly? It may work, but the MIC alone would not be accepted. Just back from France and will try to catch up the outstanding Non Comm queries shortly.
