Now that we have been running for nearly two years there is a little of bit of forum administration to be done.

For example there are some threads out there where we need photographs. We may not have photographs of the name panels or even of the memorial itself. We may need up to date photographs as well.

Other threads might not have a location, Ordnance Survey reference or a UKNIWM entry.

We will also start adding unveiling details so if they haven’t been posted we’ll list them here.

There will probably be other things needing some attention which I haven’t thought of but will be listed here too.

We will start making up a list here covering all this area’s memorials, civic, church, regimental etc. If we come across something that will need actioned the Mods. can add it to this list. If you see something that needs updated please post in this thread and we can update the list.

This Civic war memorial still needs to be photographed

Inchinnan , Renfrewshire - Location: OS Ref no. NC 719 482

I can't confirm if these communities have memorials and I'd like to know if they do or don't have a civic memorial

Langbank , Renfrewshire - Location: Not known
Inverclyde , Inverclyde - Location: Not known. Can only find references to Free French memorial.

I have walked around Langbank and it has no war memorial. This is not too surprising as it is a small village now and was much smaller (around ten houses) in the early 20th century.

Inverclyde does not (and did not) really exist as a separate community, and so there is no reason to expect was war memorial to be associated with it. All the substantial communities along the back of the c
Clyde in the modern district of Inverclyde (Port Glasgow, Greenock, Gourock and Inverkip) are already accounted for.

I have also extensively walked around Inchinnan and asked around as I walked, and could find no trace of a War Memorial. Nor can I find any hint of a memorial on the internet. Incidentally, the OS reference supplied is not in Inchinnan, or even Renfrewshsire, but across the Clyde in Dunbartonshire.

So, I think we already have records of all the Civic memorials in Renfrewshire.

Hi,

Renfrewshire isn't quite accounted for..... It dawned on me yesterday that there is a war memorial in the foyer of Linwood Parish Church in the form of bronze plaque(s), with names, on the wall. I assume that this came from the earlier church. This is a Church of Scotland and I can't remember whether it is a parish memorial in the wider sense, or is for members of the Linwood congregation.

I'm not able to access it for a photo, but perhaps someone more local may be able to. It's just inside the main doors on the left hand side [or at least it was about 5 yrs ago]

I was married in this church, so must apologise for the lapse of memory.

I live a couple of miles away from Linwood and will investigate as soon as I can. Once I've gathered a bit more data, we can get some advice on whether this is best described as a church memorial or civic one.

I've added details of the memorials in the two main churches in Linwood. I believe there is a plan for the redevelopment of the shopping centre in Linwood that will include giving the town a civic memorial for the first time.

Thanks for the two posts from Linwood. I just hope the proposed memorial is going to be of sensible material like granite or bronze and not brick and steel!

Busby/Clarkston do not have a civic war memorial.
Neilston has a Boer War memorial, however it does not have a civic war memorial dedicated to WW1/WW2.
Still to check out Waterfoot.

There is no evidence of a civic war memorial in the village.
