He died of wounds received at Loos. He was "a gifted Piper who may have gone on to greater things in the world of bagpipes".
He is also listed on the Borthwick War Memorial

Bombardier
I don't know if you know Gorebridge but it's not one of Midlothian's beauty spots. It does look after its memorials though. Midlothian council is pretty good at looking after its memorials, any time I've been to one it's been well maintained.
