The Robin Chapel was built in 1950 in memory of Lt Robin Tudsbery of the Household Cavalry - his parents were wealthy and had already decided to build housing for disabled ex-servicemen, this became known as the Thistle Foundation, unfortunately as the War was ending Lt Tudsbery was killed and his parents decided to build a Chapel in his memory. I dont have pictures of the Chapel but these links give a bit more info on the foundation and Chapel (hopefully someone can add some)

Here is Lt Tudsbery's entry on the CWGC website http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2390108

And here is a picture of the original Grave of Lt Tudsbery and his crewmen

Here is the Robin Chapel in the middle of the Thistle Foundation estate in Craigmillar.

I'm sure there will be more symbolism to this than just a robin on a branch

I didn't manage to get inside the chapel or take photographs of the Thistle Foundation buildings but I noticed that some of the blocks had plaques on the side. I will try and get back when I have more time.

The Thistle Foundation is going through an extensive major refurbishment and I don't know how many of these plaques have survived. When I were a lad, just about all of the houses had associative plaques.

If you ask at the office, I'm sure they'll have a complete list and probably a photographic record.

I'll be asking that soon, when I go to see about adding what they have to our Community Archive.

I've just purchased a very rare book on the Robin Chapel ... only 300 were ever printed. If there's anything I can add to this entry, perhaps someone will tell me how to go about it.
