Location, in Challoch (Episcopal) church at OS Map Ref NX 385 675

Maj Gen the hon Alexander Stewart
3rd son of the 9th Earl of Galloway
born 8th November 1838 died 7th January 1896
he served with distinction in the Royal Regiment of Artillery
from 1857 to 1883
of which 18 years were spent in the RHA
China campaign 1860
Afghan campaign 1879
