Not the most stunning of memorials but it looks well maintained for what it is. I'm sure a little more thought could have produced something a little better though. Note how many men served in Highland Regiments in the Great War. Out of 32 names there is one Scots Guards, one Scots Greys, one Royal Field Artillery and one HLI. The other 28 are all Highlanders. Also there are no officers listed for WW1. Scots Greys seemed odd. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: C. 21. Cemetery: TOMINTOUL (ST. MICHAEL) ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCHYARD You quite often see Machine Gun Corps, Engineers and Service Corps listed, and more often than not in rural areas Canadians or ANZACs but there are none of these listed on Tomintoul’s memorial.
