John Nicol Collins, a dispensing chemist by profession, was born in January 1879 at Keith, Banffshire and enlisted into the RAMC on 16 Nov 1915 at Sheffield.
He listed his NOK as his father Daniel Collins, 152 Land St., Keith.
He landed in France ( Rouen) on 19 Aug 1916 and was posted to No. 18 Gen. Hosp., Etaples.
He suffered from a non service related condition ( although a Medical Board in Sept 1917 found his active service agravated it ) and he was discharged " no longer physically for further War Service " on 12th Oct 1917.

Research shows the man listed here as William S McPherson is not the correct man.

He should be shown as 35384 Cpl. William Stuart McPherson
William was a civil servant ( Post Office ) when he enlisted at London on 26 April 1915. The Postmaster General authorised his release
to the R.E. Postal Section. He stated he was born at Keith, Banffshire and had previously served with the 9th (Glasgow Highlanders) H.L.I (time expired)

His NOK was given as his wife Mrs Elizabeth Howie McPherson ms Kelly of 21 Kings Park Rd, Mount Florida Glasgow. He had two daughters.

He landed in France on 8th Sept 1915 and later posted to R.E. Postal Section Bordighera Italy on 10 Nov 1917.
William was admitted to the 62nd General Hospital at Bordighera on 6th Nov 1918 and died six days later. The cause of his death was Influenza ( Spanish Flu)
