I am taking a group of secondary pupils on a trip to the Devil's Porridge Exhibition as part of their WW1 studies (28th May). I have also scheduled a brief stop at the Dumfries WM on the way and will focus on 3 names, a decorated soldier who left a widow and 2 young children, an 18 year old navy man whose ship was sunk by a u-boat and a female munitions worker. I intend to focus the day on the effect of the war on the whole community rather than simply on the men themselves.

I have the names picked out and researched by the way.

Any thoughts or contributions welcome.

\Paul
