On Tuesday it became known here that Pvt. This soldier, as a lad, served his apprenticeship with Mr G. Dow, grocer, Commercial Street, and was afterwards employed in Glasgow, prior to enlistment. He was about 20 years of age.

He is recorded both on the Coupar Angus School Memorial;

Mark

James Alexander's death does not have to be attributed to war related causes to have him commemorated by CWGC if it can be proved he died in service.

His D Cert does that and may well be adequate information to raise a case. It is a pity it does not give his service number. If you have more info on him, including the press cuttuings, send them to me direct. I will make some checks and let you know if a case can be made.

Well done in spotting him.

Mark,
I recently had one of my boys listed by the CWGC in similar circumstances - and he had died at Stobhill.

Pte. James Alexander, 7th Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders has been forwarded as a case, on Mark's behalf, to CWGC / MOD as an in service death Non Comm.

If anyone has knowledge of his place of burial I would be interested in the details. It may be he is buried in the Auchterarder area.

Will update when further details available.

I am now aware that Pte James Alexander is buried in the family lair at Jeanfield Cemetery, Perth. James, his parents and siblings are detailed on a headstone.
