Found this old church open prior to a wedding and was allowed inside where is no electricity but when in use gas lighting .

This old church has War Memorials relating to the Jacobite period

Memorial 1 has the following wording :

In Memory of Major Donald Macdonell of Tirnadris

The victor of the first skirmish of the Rising of 1745 who was executed at Carlisle on the 18th October 1746 upon him Scott based the Highland Hero of his " Waverley " , Fergus Mac Ivor.

RIP


This memorial plaque has no date when erected at the old church and churchyard that overlooks Roy Bridge

Memorial 2 : records

In Memory of Colonel Alexander Macdonell , 17th Chief of Keppoch , who fell at the head of his Regiment at Culloden , his brothers Donald and Archibald and all the Brae Lochaber men also served and died in the army of Prince Charles Edward Stuart during the Rising .

RIP


This memorial plaque is located on the side wall of the old church . There is no date relating to its erection within the church

These memorials should actually be listed in the Individuals section.

Once we have photographs they can be moved to that section.
