The RAF War Memorial outside the Inchnadamph Church in Sutherland lists the RAF crew who were killed in ANSON N 9857 when it flew from 19 OTU at RAF Kinloss on 13 April 1941 and it should have flown to Cape Wrath and to Oban and back to their Training Unit at RAF Kinloss . They failed to return to the airfield so a search was raised with no gain .

On 25 May 1941 a shepherd , Mr Law was on Beinn an Fhurain when he came across the crash location .

5 Bodies were found inside the remains of the fuselage , wrapped in their parachutes . 3 had survived the crash landing but died of exposure . The Body of Ballater born Sgt Mitchell RAF was discoverd some half mile away sheltering under a large boulder .

Due to the remote location at 2,300 feet the casualties were buried at the crash site by the Police and Estate workers and the memorial erected at the entrance area of Inchnadamph church

.

There is a website showing WW2 Royal Air Force crash sites

http://www.archieraf.co.uk/scs/ansonn9857.html

I did not climb to the crash site at around 2,300 feet

As an air-crash memorial this has already been posted under the Highlands-Other section:
