Jim it is not a problem on my part if you want to share the photographs. I am going up anyway as I am doing something for the RHF Museum and it is linked into one of the guys listed on the memorial. Plus I have contacts in the school through wife who works in the Catering Direct Service which can arrange access for me whenever I want to gain entry.

Thank you.

GK

If you are taking photos for the RHF Museum could you see if the museum holds any war memorials or rolls of honour?

I'm sure the museum has at least one framed roll of honour for a company which used to be displayed in one of the museum's cabinets.

Regards

Adam

Do you mean this one which is for the Chamber of Commerce workers who enlisted and died during the Great War...

GK

I'm sorry I can't see the photograph you've posted, the image is blocked on the pc I'm using just now. If I remember it was a roll that comemmorated men from offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh but I may be getting confused with a roll in another museum, perhaps I'm thinking of one in the National Museum's holdings?

I will check again later when I can see the photograph but I notice we don't have this roll posted in the Glasgow Other Memorials section of this forum. Could you post a copy of this photograph there?

Kind regards

Adam

Charlie,

You can add the picture yourself.

Simply create a new thread in "Glasgow - Other Memorials". Then you can add the photo as you did here.

Regards,

David

I can confirm that there is a Great War Memorial in the Calton Parkhead Church in Helenvale Street,Parkhead. It was moved there in 1935, from its original location of Calton Parish Church in Tobago Street, when the new church opened in Parkhead.

There is also a war memorial in the Salvation Army Citadel in the nearby Tollcross Road which lists three members of the congregation who were killed in the Great War.

Took a few of the Calton Parkhead Church memorial but it is really an awkward memorial to get a true reading off if using a digital camera.
