Adam and i are attending a few Family History Fairs, where we intend to publicise the forum and what we do.
Part of the display I want to do is a section on "success stories". I want to highlight some of the acheivements of the forum.
These would include:
Locating and documenting the oldest civic war memorial in Scotland (Crimean War memorial at Balmaclellan)
Paul recently unveiling a plaque to a Typhoon crash
Surely there must be others. Have any forum members had success in adding a name to a memorial? Have we succeeded in having a memorial saved or restored?
What about the CWGC? Have any of us managed to have a name added to their register?
If you have done any of these, or perhaps have another acheivement I haven'ty listed, and you don't mind us using this as "publicity material" for the forum, can you provide details in this thread?
We'll make sure to give full credit on any display we prepare, or can keep you anonymous if that is what you prefer.
Thanks,
David |

That's an excellent one Paul, that's definitely worth highlighting. Can you send me "before and after" pics? |

I have managed to bring him in from the cold. Canada has added his name to their records but CWGC are still not adding him.
I've sent his birth lines but it's not enough. They need a death certificate.

What about the Davie Park Memorial Gates. I spent months on that. An original plaque was located, a new one made and a re-dedication ? |

Davie Park Memorial Gates - yes, a very fine achievement indeed.
Well done,
