This is a photo of a memorial in Edinburgh with the same plaque which has already been posted.

It doesn't have the very unusual addition at the top which must have been added at a later date.

Thanks to Mrs Aase Goldsmith for the following which show the changes to the memorial. As she points out it is a pity it is on the flight path on the local bird population.
Another couple of points to note are
- the "knight" figure represents the Thane of Fife
- the wording above the figure, which I never noticed the first time and seen better in previous photos, reads " Freedom helps the world unite".

It's a shame the new plaque doesn't mention which town these Fife volunteers came from.

I take it this is a list of all those who went to Spain and not those who died.

I see the last name on the new plaque is a woman, Sister Wilson.

Regards

Adam

Thanks to Dougie Kinnear and to the Fife Federation of Trades Councils for the information. The link is to Dougie's website which has a host of information on the memorial and the names on it. It answers many of the questions posed here e.g. as Dougie says"I was not involved in the production of the new plaque and am unsure why the place names for those named have not been included although I would imagine available space on the memorial was the main reason, and possibly cost."
You may also be interested to know that due to the recent addition of the new plaque to the memorial, it is to be rededicated in a ceremony
being held on Saturday the 4th of April at 10am.

Here is link to Dougie's well researched website
