Hi
I intend to place an informative plaque on the currently anonymous Loch Skerrow memorial on 18th March 2009 (65th anniversary of the pilot's death).
Anyone who is interested in attending or just having a read, the details are here http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=3662

If anyone is able to attend this unveling/re-dedication, then please meet at the old Gatehouse of Fleet station at 3pm on 18th (a week today). Outdoor clothing and a change of footwear is recommended.

I will unfortunately be unable to attend, but I send my best wishes and hope all goes well. I have no doubt you will obtain pictures for us - can you try and get some photos of the actual unveiling?
Regards,
David |

Will do, I have contacted a couple of local papers who have said they are interested in doing a small item if I send in the info and pics. I will post any news coverage on the thread.
Funnily enough, I was giving a short talk yesterday to a local primary school about WW2 and the subject of Doodlebugs (V1s) came up and I produced from my bag the actual plaque for Loch Skerrow and explained that the Canadian who died had come to Scotland to train and was due to go down to Kent to shoot down the V1s attacking London. The kids were certainly keen.

It's a long way away from Edinburgh but I wish you all the best for the day.
