Lady Glenorchy's North Church War Memorial Photograph
Greenside Parish Church
Regent Road
Edinburgh

The congregation of Lady Glenorchy's Church merged with Greenside Parish Church. They do not have the actual war memorial in Greenside Parish Church but they do have the memorial.

I will try and find out what has happened to this memorial.

Only the facade of this old church now remains and it is used as an entrance to a hotel in the OMNI centre in Edinburgh.

This memorial photograph is located behind the main door of the entrance hall of Greenside church and quite difficult to photograph. between the glass and the angles it was very difficult to get any clear images.

I have updated the title of this thread. It seems there is another Lady Glenorchy's Church in Edinburgh and this one was knows as Lady Glenorchy's North Church or Lady Glenorchy's Low Calton Church. (In the 1920's it must have been Lady Glenorchy's United Free Church).

The original brass plaque is in the Lady Haig's Poppy Factory in Edinburgh.

From what the guys in the factory can tell me when Lady Glenorchy's was being demolished the brass plaque was going to be thrown out. Luckily someone offered it to the Poppy Factory instead and they now have it mounted in their main building.

I will post photographs later but it was in a very poor state when they got it. It was very dirty and even with a lot of cleaning it is still in a poor condition.

The original memorial in the Poppy Factory. Unfortunately the Second World War plaque is missing.
