One of my favourite memorials, I use the second pic for my avatar.

I took the photos just after sunset and it gives a nice semi-cameo effect.

The sculptor was Kellock Brown, the same man who did Inveraray, Johnstone and Kilmaurs. The sculpture looks to be identical to Kilmaurs.

I wonder if the Fred m. Sincliar listed on the memorial is this man (assuming the surname is mispelled):

Yes spelling mistake of Sincliar on WM, found this is Alfred Marriott Sinclair, known as Affie, from Canadian Infantry Service No 129389 as you state.
Affie was third son of the late Segt and Mrs Sinclair of Penpont and his oldest brother was CSM F. W. Sinclair Service No 26 of lst/5th Bn. K.O.S.B died 11/11/1915

It is the older brother Fred who is on the WM and not the younger brother Alfred. Do not know where Alfred is perhaps Dumfries!!

John McNish is buried in Willesden, London. He enlisted firstly into the Service Corps then into the Labour Corps (army number 302287) on 15 October 1915 age 42, he was a Draper/Packer. Discharged on 17 March 1919 no longer fit for War Service. He had 'malignant disease of the pharynx', i.e. throat cancer. Info from his pension record which is available on Ancestry. He served in France and was awarded the usual 3 war medals (from his medal index card).

Thanks for photo and information, will look in web site to see if can find others from KOSB on the WM.

Do you know anything about a John Miles who is on Penpont WM, only one I found was 6092 died 24/5/1916 born Edinburgh, and he was formly S/17831 In Queens Own Cam Highlanders, not sure if he one am looking for, can you help Please?
