I have removed Ord from the list.
Westhill is on the list because it currently has a population of over 10,000 and on that basis I would have expected it to have a war memorial. A better description after 'location' would have been 'No known Memorial' rather than 'Not known'.
I see now Westhill is a commuter town for Aberdeen built in the 1960s, a new town in all but name I suppose, so the Skene memorial will cover this town and I will amend the list.
I take it then that any church memorials will probably have been raised for congregations rather than communities and are for another part of the forum.
Thanks for the information. Without this kind of local knowledge it's impossible to try and create a full list.

Apart from Tarbrax and Auchengray in South Lanarkshire we are also needing these few civic memorials to complete some areas on the forum:

Lenzie , East Dunbartonshire - Location: Public Hall
Temple , Midlothian - Location: Parish Church (Redundant) UKNIWM - 5637
Inchinnan , Renfrewshire - Location: OS Ref no. NC 719 482
Dollar, Great War Memorial , Clackmannan - Location: Parish Church
Fintry , Stirling - Location: Stained Glass Window, Fintry Kirk
Gargunnock , Stirling - Location: The Square, Fountain or is it in the church? - conflicting sources of information
Drongan , East Ayrshire - Location: Schaw Kirk
Girvan, Boer War Memorial, South Ayrshire - Location: Girvan Cemetery
Rankinston , East Ayrshire - Location: Memorial existence confirmed within community, location not known
Sorn , East Ayrshire - Location: In Sorn Church?
There aren't that many, does anyone know anyone from these locations who may be able to help?
There are three other locations that need confirmation if they have civic memorials or not. They might not have one but I'd like to be able to confirm it either way.
Maidens , South Ayrshire - Location: Not known
Langbank , Renfrewshire - Location: Not known
Inverclyde , Inverclyde - Location: Not known

Re Maidens, been there, looked for it and not found one. The nearby Turnberry memorial is for those from the camp only so that's not it. Maidens has a church but only used on high days and holidays. Alternatively Maidens may be covered by the memorial at Kirkoswald.

Re Rankinston - there is a Rankinston panel on the Coylton memorial which makes me suspect there may not be a separate memorial for Rankinston.
There is no church in Rankinston, but there is a community centre so I think that is the only location to be checked.

I saw no sign of a memorial, or of an active church in Tarbrax. There is a community hall (modern?), but I don't know if a memorial may be in there. The Auchengray one is probably in the church there, by the looks of the picture of it shown online.

Yes Auchengray is in the church. Tarbrax definitely had one, I don't know where it is now though. I think David is going to have a search to see what he can find out.

Interesting, Rankinston only came under the Schaw church at Drongan from 1931, it had come under Coylton prior to that but with its own church.
From 1931 the services at Rankinston church were by the minister from Drongan instead of the Schaw church. To complicate things the new Schaw church was built in 1955 about 2 miles from the original church.
Up until 1937 church services in Rankinston were held in the infant school so I guess we should be looking in the open for the memorial - I will check it out next time I go up to Prestwick.
I found this useful info:
"The War Memorial at Rankinston was unveiled on 7th August 1921, the minister -
Rev J. E. Thomson presided. ...... Altho' the weather was very disagreeable there was
a very large gathering of people and the service was very impressive. The unveiling
ceremony was performed by Mr John Sloan, Senr. who had lost four sons in the War.
About 80 enlisted from Rankinston district of whom twenty six made the supreme
sacrifice - a number of these last being members of sons of members of this
Congregation."

I was only concentrating on the South of Scotland at the moment. That is everything below the Clyde-Forth line plus Fife, the old Central Region area and the Dunbartonshires.
