I couldn't help but notice that the names of 4 Zulu scouts are on the memorial alongside the names of the soldiers.

Bravo, the Scottish Horse.

I noticed the soldiers' service numbers are given. If they had been listed on Great War memorials what an aid to research that would have been.

This memorial has been removed from the esplanade for restoration. There is a sign confirming this but I unfortunately neglected to note if there was a date for its return.

Unlike the Haig statue I believe it is intended to return it to its original location.
