A bench was dedicated at Eyemouth war memorial to Cpl David Williams.

Anyone near enough to get a photo for the forum?

Can I suggest one major update to the nine Black Watch names; namely Ferns, McArdle, Gray, McHale, Lowe, Kennedy and Kerr from Fife, plus Stephen from Scone and Tukutukuwaqa from Fiji are all named on the Black Watch regimental memorial, in the grounds of their museum at Perth.
Although Kennedy does not appear to have been added to any public memorial at either Oakley or Dunfermline, his grave at Culross contains his army rank and number and Black Watch carved insignia and thus constitutes a memorial in its design.

The Black Watch memorial in the grounds of their museum has already been added to the forum:

Has there been names added since I took those photos? If so, can you update the thread for us?

Thanks,

David

Sorry to report another Scot has died in Afghanistan. Marine Al Lucas has been added to our own Roll of Honour on page 1 of this thread.

The marines are as you know based in Arbroath, which is where I am so I know a number of them.
My pal Woody was directly behind the poor guy in the patrol when the landmine went off, he may be back at the weekend when the body is flown back.

My thoughts are with Woody and his mates.

Two more marines died today. Could these be from 45 as well?

Just came across this link to Al (Alex) Lucas from Peebles who died on 24 (25?) November 2008.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/south_of_scotland/7768056.stm

Has anyone heard of any plans to add his name to the Peebles memorial?

I see in today's news that Gary O'Donnell has been posthumously awarded a bar to his George Medal. Can you amend the list please?

Paul

You've beaten me to it, I've just seen the BBC website. I have now amended the main list.

I meant to add this earlier. Flt Lt Allan Squires, the Captain of Nimrod XV230 that crashed in Afghanistan on 2 Sep 06, has been added to the Nairn War Memorial.

A soldier of the Black Watch has died in Afghanistan - the name has yet to be released.

RIP

I wrote to The Moray Council asking about the addition of the names of the crew from Nimrod XV230 - where appropriate - to council owned war memorials. The council had no objection and informed me that they generally wait to be asked by the appropriate military service prior to acting. I'll see what Kinloss - presumably after consultation with the families of the crew - thinks and get back to you.
