The plaque is situated in Gateside Memorial Hall and representative of the WW2 fallen from the now disused church;

Is this plaque a seperate memorial or should it be considered part of the Stained Glass window memorial? It just seems to be a transcription of the words on the window.

Adam,

Gateside proved another 'Ceres moment' with its variety of memorials. This is a new plaque situated inside the Village Hall. It was made to provide the names of the WW2 fallen from the church memorial window and sits adjacent the original Great War plaque from the church. The church is now closed and there is uncertainty over its future as well as that of the windows.

Sorry, I was getting confused with all the memorials. Embarassed The Window is in the church and the plaque is in the hall.

Thanks for clarifyng it. I just hope such beautiful windows can be saved n some way.

Adam,

Yes I hope something can be done with the windows - lovely historical pieces of work. I was asking a couple at the hall if it would be a condition of any renovation etc. that the windows are retained but they weren't sure.
They did say that the windows did not actually belong to the kirk but the family who commissioned them originally. I think John Burnett mentioned previously that it was Dorothy Highland's family, and who also donated the new WW2 plaque.
These things are never straight forward but hopefully there will be good news at some point.
