From Scottish Mining Villages;
In 1924, in his book Auchterderran a Parish History, Rev Archibald McNeill Houston listed further details of the First World War Roll of Honour. To view details click on the appropriate sections:

Mark is quite correct. Got this from following
http://www.scottisharchitects.org.uk/index.php
"Alexander Murdoch was an architectural and monumental sculptor who worked in Abbotshall Road, Kirkcaldy."
Murdoch did the Kilrenny one as well. |

DJP, 20 September 2008
AUCHTERDERRAN PARISH – This memorial, erected by Mr Murdoch, sculptor, Kirkcaldy, on the glebe at Auchterderran, Fife, was unveiled by Mrs Goodall, Cardenbank; and Mrs Graham (who lost a son and two sons respectively in the war), and dedicated by the parish minister, the Rev. A. M’Neill Houston, who gave the site. He read a list of 190 names of men from the parish who paid the supreme sacrifice. Addresses were given by Mr Adamson, M.P., for Fife; and Mr Chas. Carlow, J.P., chairman of the Fife Coal Company. Many beautiful wreaths from the Fife Coal Company, the Women’s Guild of the Parish Church, and other friends and bereaved relatives were placed on the Cenotaph at the close of the ceremony. Several thousand parishioners attended, and all local bodies were represented on the platform, under the chairmanship of Mr W. Reid, miner, president of the War Memorial Committee. The chairman of the Parish Council accepted custody of the memorial for that body. The Scotsman, Wednesday, 12 April 1922, 12. |

S/8909 Serjeant Thomas McIvor 9th Btn Black Watch on this memorial is also upon the Arbroath war memorial.
He was from Arbroath and before the war had been working for a time as a miner at Bowhill in Fife. He was killed in action on 29/04/1916 aged 30 and his name is inscribed upon the Loos Memorial. He left a widow, Catherine Yeaman, and three children.
[EDIT]
I think Thomas McIvor may appear twice on this memorial. There's a man listed called 'Thos Meivor' in the Black Watch section between David Maxwell and Thos Milne.
I notice he's not in the transcribed list or the Roll of Honour. I coudn't find anyone called 'Meivor' on CWGC or SNWM. I think the 'C' in Thomas McIvor's been misread on a list of names to be inscribed somehow and so there's the same man listed twice. Once correctly and another erroneously.
