This is a puzzle - the UKNIWM (Est. 1989) have listed the following;
BLAIRGOWRIE POST OFFICE
UKNIWM Ref: 44756
Apparently it is unidentified (no photo/no description) but does it actually exist?
I don't have a clue about this one but surely someone must have seen it to list it!
I know I could e-mail them but they are looking for info., so where did they get this
Any thoughts . |

We're having the same trouble with 2 memorial scrolls at Yarrow Feus, UKNIWM Ref No. 46440 & 46441.
Plenty of detail is listed at their website concerning these scrolls but no one locally has been able to confirm their existence.
Until we can actually get access to the hall to check for ourselves we're struggling. _________________

I have just seen these posts and as the Coordinator for UKNIWM I wanted to shed some light on your mysteries! If you have any more, do let me know as we always want to help - it aids us as well as you....
With regard to the Rolls of Honour, ref 46440 and 46441 we have images of them both so they definitely exist. When they were recorded in 1999 they were located in the village hall so hopefully they are still there. If you want a copy of the photos, send me an e-mail.
As for niwm 44756, unfortunately the information we have is much more tenuous. All we have is a statement to say that there is a Blairgowrie Post Office War Memorial in Blairgowrie and that a photograph has been promised. However, as yet (after over 5 years wait) it is not forthcoming. The Postal Museum and Archive are carrying out a survey of all their war memorials so they might find it then if you don't find it first. |

Be careful what you wish for, I'm sure we've plenty more queries!
Actually we'll also have plenty of memorials recorded here which you don't have on your database so I hope we can help you in return by providing new information and not just getting in touch about existing entries.
Regards

Hi Adam
Great to be part of a very worthwhile and active forum. It's great to see such interest. As for queries, I can at least use the excuse that they pay me to answer them....!
And I look forward to a fruitful exchange of information - I think my colleague, who has no left, had been in touch with you guys so it is about time I picked up her baton. As a start, I have updated our record regarding the Blairgowrie Post Office memorial....
Here's to many more
Cheers

Jane,
I certainly think we'l be able to help each other out. Feel free to have a look through the forum, and help yourself to whatever information can be beneficial to you. That's what this forum is about: making the information available for the benefit of others.
I can give you another one you can update with a little more information: Lanark war memorial doesn't have much info on your site. I can certainly add to that.

I can also provide a list of names if you like.
