Two steamships were sunk off the Mull of Galloway in the First World War and are commemorated by this memorial in Kirkmaiden Churchyard

It is called Crammag Head on modern OS maps and Crummag Head on the memorial. Other sources quote 20 fatalities when this ship was sunk.
