HMS Scotia, Craig Tara, Ayr
Location: Near Reception building, Craig Tara Caravan Park, Ayr
OS Ref: NS 300 182
This former RN Training establishment is currently a caravan park. This small memorial is a blink and you miss it one because it is hidden between the bushes at a bend in the road within the caravan park.
Like other Second World War Royal Navy training establishments HMS 'Europa' and HMS 'Royal Arthur', 'Scotia' was a requisitioned Butlins holiday camp which returned to its pre-war use in the late 1940's. |
