We have two sources confirming this memorial's location. One of the sources is the Royal Commission for Ancient and Historic Monuments in Scotland (RCAHMS) and the details are taken from their Canmore database. The other source is the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials (UKNIWM) database

Pipe Major Findlater referred to at the unveiling is Piper George Findlater VC of the Gordon Highlanders and Dargai fame. He was later Pipe-Major of Turriff Pipe Band for many years. He farmed most of his life at Forglen and is buried in the small cemetery there.

I wondered if it was Findlater VC. It seemed strange to have two people unveiling the memorial.

The War Book of Turriff & 12 Miles Round has on page 28 & 29 a list of men from there, only brief details.
I have found that not all the men's names appear on other memorials so will wait before posting info but if anyone needs info contact me. Anne
