Armadale War memorial
Location: Off South Street
OS Ref: NS 938 683
You can easily miss this memorial if you don't know where to look. I did the last time I was in Armadale. If you head up South Street from Main Street it is in a gap in the buildings on your left hand side half way up the brae. It is not facing the road so it is easy to miss from this direction. If you take the next turning on your left and go round the back of a building you can park on some rough ground next to this site.
I'd be delighted to know why this site was chosen because I have to say on a wet January morning it was not at its best.
Saying that it was well looked after and there were many poppy wreaths at it's base.

The light was poor today so the photographs of the name panels aren't that great. I'd be more than happy for better images to be posted. these will have to do today.
There are a lot of names.

According to information that I found here
http://www.armadale.org.uk/rollofhonour.htm
and from the Korean Roll of Honour site, this was one of the men.
Number 22370442
Rank Pte
Name SMITH, Daniel
Unit A & SH att KOSB
Date of Death 04.11.51
Commemorated or Buried No Known Grave
If White was also killed in Korea as stated, there were 3 named White who died in Korea, 2 of whom had A as a second initial. Further research will be needed.
