I noticed the following paragraph from 'Church News' in the P.A. 17/09/1921:-

The Scots Church of Buenos Aires propose to erect an old oak memorial in memory of those of Scots extraction who fell in the war, from some 2000 volunteers. In St. Andrew's Church, Buenos Aires, there is a Head Minister, two English speaking and one Spanish speaking assistants. Services are held at eight centres.

Details from the Colvend Church Memorial thread

FLT. SGT. ALLAN K. EDGAR, R.A.F.V.R.
Allan Knowles Edgar, Flight Sergeant (1380422) Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Age 22.
Born 1921 at West Derby, Lancashire. Son of Thomas Edgar, formerly of Kippford, Colvend and Elsie Knowles Edgar. Returned from Argentina to enlist.
Killed in Action 17 April 1943 whilst a wireless operator/air gunner on an Halifax of 77 Squadron, RAF Bomber Command during a raid on the Skoda works in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Bad Tolz, Germany and also remembered on the Memorial to the Fallen in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Buenos Aires.

Frank Henderson who is listed as a Great War casualty is:
6371 Corporal Francis (Frank) Henderson
2/14th City of London Regiment (London Scottish)
Died of wounds 8 October 1916, aged 29
Buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France

Born in Edinburgh, he was the son of Margaret Allan Reid or Henderson of "Viewhill", Falkland, Fife.
He worked as a teller in Falkland's British Linen Bank and then transferred to the Carluke branch and then to London. He then went to work for the Anglo South American Bank in Bahia Blanca. He returned to Britain in late 1915 to enlist. He had been in France for 5 months when he was very badly wounded at Neuville St Vaast, his leg was amputated, and he died at 42nd Casualty Clearing Station.

He is commemorated on the war memorials in Falkland -the new one on Brunton Green, the plaque in the kirk and on the plaque now in the Community Hall, formerly in the Memorial Institute.

Named on the Glencairn Parish War Memorials in Moniaive, Dumfriesshire as:

LIEUT. REV. W. N. MONTEITH.
William Neve Monteith – age 37 – Lieutenant, 6th (Reserve) Battalion attached to the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.
William was educated at Cargilfield School and at Fettes College in Edinburgh, and at Magdalen College Oxford, where he gained his B.A., before studying Theology at the University of Glasgow from where he graduated B.D. in April 1904. After graduation he acted as assistant in the “Scotch” Church at Buenos Aires and then served as Assistant to the Reverend Dr Playfair of St. Andrews before getting his own parish in Elie in Fife in 1907. He enlisted in the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry at the outbreak of war and was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade in January 1915. He joined his battalion in France in May 1915 but was killed at Bois-Grenier during the battle of Loos.
Born 1878 in Glencairn. Son of the late Rev. John Monteith of Glencairn Parish Church (died 1886) and of Ellen Maria (Neve) Monteith (died 1912) Husband of Muriel May (Cox) Monteith of West House, Elie, Fife who he married in 1915 in Largo, Fife.
Missing in Action on 25 September 1915 and named on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
Also named on the Cargilfield School and Fettes College memorials, on the Glasgow University Roll of Honour, on the Church of Scotland Ministers memorial in St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, on the Magdalen College memorial, on the Elie & Earlsferry War Memorial, on the Elie Parish Church memorial, on an individual memorial in the church, and on the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (Iglesia Presbiteriana San Andrés) memorial in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Regarding the Rev W N Monteith, the University of Glasgow site adds:

Lieutenant Monteith was killed in action near Loos on 25th September 1915 and his brother, John, was killed in action at Loos just a few days later, on 1st October. Another brother, Hugh served with the RAMC and gained the DSO.

The Rev Monteith's widow Muriel Monteith gave birth to a son on 31st December, three months after his father's death. He was named William Neve Monteith and grew up to carry his father's name in a distinguished career. Like his father he was a graduate of Magdalen College. He served as Consul-General in Oman from October 1958 to May 1960 and also became the Reverend Monteith. He died in 2004, the best part of a century after the father who never knew him.

Muriel died in Elie in 1971 aged 81.
