i. - Inzievar House was built between 1856 and 1859 by the famous baronial architect David Bryce. It belonged to a Mr Archibald Smith-Sligo, a wealthy landed gentleman who owned coal mines and the Forth Ironworks at Oakley

ii. - Archibald Dominic Smith-Sligo married Elizabeth (Ella) Mary Fletcher. Like the Smith family the Fletcher family was another strong Roman Catholic family.

Archibald Dominic Smith-Sligo and Ella Fletcher had 6 children:-

Archibald George Smith-Sligo 1887- September 1914 (died France WW1).
Ronald WMG Smith-Sligo (Capt) born 1889.
Robert Charles Smith-Sligo born 1891
Mary LV Smith-Sligo born 1892
Margaret Mary-Christine Smith Sligo 1895-1972

Forgive me this further little piece of trivia which I discovered;

Captain Nemo's domestic arrangements in the heart of the raging depths are drawn from Verne's visit to the rain-swept but luxurious ‘château’ of ‘Ockley’ in Fife. While this building has remained mysterious to date, it can be identified here for the first time as Inzievar House in Oakley.
A reading of chapters 27-29 of Verne's Backwards to Britain (written in about 1859, but published only in 1989) clearly demonstrates his visit to Inzievar House as the source of Nemo's plumbing, furnishings, artistic preferences, and general lifestyle. Verne indeed acknowledges the debt when he presents Nemo ‘us[ing] only the black keys, giving his melodies an essentially Scottish tonality’

WILLIAM FRASER.

Also named on the Newtown St. Boswell District War Memorial in Roxburghshire.

William Fraser – age 39 – Lance Corporal (276206) 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots.
William, aged 29, was a gamekeeper at Luscar, Carnock, Fife when he married Christina Allan of Alloway, Ayrshire in 1908 in Edinburgh and they were living in Carnock in 1911. By 1915 William was a gamekeeper at Langlands, Newton St. Boswells where the property was owned by Alexander Mitchell of Norton Hall, Eildon and of Luscar, Dunfermline.
Born 1878 in West Linton, Peeblesshire. Son of Robert and Elizabeth (Fraser) Fraser.
Husband of Christina Allan of East Luscar, Dunfermline, Fife. (The Scotsman 9/3/1918 p.12)
Missing in Action on 3 May 1917 and named on the Arras Memorial, France.
