Hello
I am doing some research on Flt Sgt Ian Cormack who is mentioned on the memorial.
In March 1942 he was one of 15 pilots who flew the first Spitfires off the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle to the besieged island of Malta. He was killed days later on March 17 shot down into the sea, his body was never recovered.
May I use the photographs please from the site of the memorial I am trying to do a small booklet on all the 15 Spitfire pilots involved in what was called Operation Spotter.
Regards
Paul Lovell

Hello, Regarding the pages on the 'Maud' Memorial - there is an error here. The Memorial is in the form of a tall obelisk - not a Celtic Cross. The UKNIWM number given is correct - please see the description given there - it is correct - and the inscription on it as given by UKNIWM is also correct. But this is not the same as that on your pages. I don't what memorial it is - but it is not Maud!
I hope this is helpful.

It looks like the Maud and Old Deer Memorials may have been muddled?

Yes, it certainly appears to be the case that the two have become mixed up. The pictures and detail given on the Old Deer site do agree with the postcard I have for Maud. Thank you. Smile

It looks like this is the Old Deer Parish War Memorial covering the communities of Old Deer and Stuartfield. I'll amend the title to reflect this.

Kind regards

Adam
