BRITISH IMPERIAL RESERVISTS DATABASE
http://anzaccentenary.archive.vic.gov.au/british-imperial-reservists/index.html

"The Veterans Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria, through a grant from the United Kingdom Government, commissioned Archaeological and Heritage Management Solutions Pty Ltd (AHMS) to research and compile a database of British Imperial Reservists (IRs) who were recalled to the British Expeditionary Forces in World War One (WWI). This research was primarily focussed on those Reservists who sailed from Melbourne, Victoria on the HMAT Miltiades as part of the first convoy (Convoy 1) of troops leaving Australia in October 1914."

The second name on the database is:
1 (QLD) Baille W 3740 King’s Own Scots Borderers Pte
(sailed on HMAT) Miltiades 17.10.14 Sydney

William had served in the KOSB before he emigrated to Australia in about 1912. He was in Queensland in August 1914 when, as a reservist, he was mobilised and he sailed from Sydney with other Imperial Reservists in October 1914. He joined the 2nd KOSB in France in January 1915 but was wounded in March. After he had recovered he was posted to the 6th KOSB.
He died on the Somme on 17 July 1916 and is named on the Galashiels War Memorial.
