The WW1 Memorial was designed and carved by CD`O Pilkington Jackson and unveiled on 22nd December 1921 by His Grace the Duke of Montrose KT,Governor.
436 staff served and 78 died.

The WW2 Memorial was designed by Leslie Graham MacDougall and unveiled on Thursday 1st April 1954 by the Right Hon Lord Rowallan,KBE,MC,TD,DL,Governor.
663 staff served and 52 died.

Both Memorials originally in HQ,42 St Andrew Square.

Are you sure these aren't posted, I could have sworn I added them after taking pictures on my phone a couple of years ago. The NBoS memorials are now in Gogarburn, Edinburgh

Thanks to Judy Irons and the security staff at the Royal Bank of Scotland H.Q. at Gogarburn for allowing access to the building and giving permission to photograph the Memorials.
They are situated on a side wall and rather difficult to picture but at least we have it here.

Named on the Kirkcudbright War Memorial as:

FT/LT. A. NEILL McGLASHAN 156 SQN. R.A.F.V.R.
Alexander Neill McGlashan – age 32 – Flight Lieutenant/Pilot (110887) 156 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Alexander was employed at the Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire. His Lancaster bomber took off from RAF Warboys, Huntingdonshire for a raid on Berlin. He was originally buried in Doberitz-Elsgrund Cemetery but was re-interred in Berlin in December 1946. Born 1911 in Maxwelltown, Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire. Son of the late Elizabeth MacMillan (Neill) McGlashan and of James McGlashan of Balinbreich, Kirkcudbright.
Killed in Action on 3 January 1944 and buried in Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery, Germany.
Also named on the Kirkcudbright Academy memorial and on the St. Cuthbert's Church memorial.

JOHN HALIFAX.

Named on the Lochmaben War Memorial in Dumfriesshire as:

Sgt. J. HALIFAX, R.A.
John Halifax – age 30 – Lance Sergeant (318264) 155 (The Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regt. Royal Artillery.
John was a member staff of the National Bank of Scotland at Elie and Upper Largo in Fife before moving to the Lochmaben branch where he also joined the Territorial Lanarkshire Yeomanry. He was mobilised in September 1939 and sailed with his regiment from the Clyde for India in March 1941. They moved to Malaya in October and fought the Japanese down the length of the country until the surrender of Singapore in February 1942. John died as a prisoner of war in Changi Camp and was buried there but was re-interred in Kranji in April 1945.
Born 1911 in Monifieth, Angus. Son of William Herbert Halifax and Catherine Low Taylor (Gregor) Halifax, formerly of the Victoria Hotel, Elie, Fife. Husband of Helen Lugton Montgomery (Graham) Halifax of Elie who he married in 1939 in Elie.
Died on Service on 20 August 1942 and buried in Kranji War Cemetery, Singapore.
Also named on the Elie and Earlsferry War Memorial.

Named on the Hightae War Memorial in Dumfriesshire as:

R. DALGLEISH, Royal Navy.
Note: The spelling of the family name varies between Dalgleish and Dalgliesh.
Robert Matthew Dalgleish – age 31 – Petty Officer Radio Mechanic (P/MX 93344) H.M.S. Laforey,
Royal Navy.
Robert was a banker who served his apprenticeship in the National Bank of Scotland in Lochmaben before working in the Biggar branch and in the Edinburgh office. He joined the navy in 1941.
Born 1913 in Lochmaben as Dalgliesh. Son of Robert William Dalgliesh and of Margaret Jane (Gibson) Dalgliesh of Parkend Cottage, Lockerbie and of Hightae.
Killed in Action/Lost at Sea on 30 March 1944 and named on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire.

On 28 March 1944 HMS LAFOREY, an “L” Class Destroyer, deployed for patrol off west coast of Italy. On the 29th She carried out a hunt for U223 north of Palermo, Sicily with HM Destroyers Tumult and Wilton and was later joined by other HM Destroyers.
On the 30th after several hours of depth charge attacks the submarine surfaced and was engaged by all ships by surface gunfire. Despite being hit repeatedly U223 fired three torpedoes which hit the Laforey and quickly sank her.
