Captain MacDonald is named on Royal Troon Golf Club War Memorial. He died on 4 February 1918 at 220 Albert Road, Glasgow. Occupation: Solicitor and Clerk, Company Secretary, late Captain, Army Sevice Corps. Cause of death: Lymphadenoma and Cardiac failure.

Apparently Lymphadenoma is a rare type of tumour of the salivary gland.

There are six Pension ledger cards in his name but none give anything other than his basic details. Any further progress will need to wait until the National Archives reopen post-Covid. There are papers held there, ref: WO 374/43955

I have put him in my Bring Forward file.

He is named on the Buckie War Memorial in Moray.

The Banffshire Reporter of 6/2/1918 has:

DEATH OF BUCKIE CAPTAIN. CAPTAIN Roderick George Macdonald, formerly of the Army Service Corps with the British Expeditionary Force in Salonika, who died at 220 Albert Road, Pollokshields Glasgow, on Monday, was a son of the late Mr John Macdonald, solicitor, Buckie. For some time he was secretary of Robert Addie and Sons' Colleries, Ltd. The funeral is to take place at Buckie to-morrow, at 1 o'clock, on the arrival of the train from Aberdeen.

Thanks Ken. That will be helpful if a case can be made for him.
